Self-Guided Facility Walkthrough
A fast, friendly way to walk your campus with fresh eyes — and spot things that deserve a closer look. This guide is designed to help your school community identify potential safety concerns and start conversations about creating safer learning environments. It is representative of topics that may be included in a comprehensive school safety assessment, but it is not a substitute for a professional evaluation.
How to use this walkthrough
Walk your campus using the Quick Screen (next page). For each item, mark one box:
G Green — in place and working.
Y Yellow — partial, unsure, or needs attention.
R Red — missing or not working.
Read your results one section at a time:
All Green in a section? You're done with that section — your quick walkthrough counts. Move on.
Any Yellow or Red? That's your signal to turn to that section in the Detailed Walkthrough and complete the full checklist to dig into what needs more attention.
Jot quick notes and next steps as you go. The goal isn't a perfect score — it's knowing your campus and identifying the gaps that could be of concern.
